Need to be in a relationship on Valentines Day?

Valentines is a time to celebrate romantic love, and some folks feel they need to be in a relationship for Valentines Day or they feel like crud. That’s just plain wrong and crazy. I say Valentines is a time to celebrate healthy romantic love, and making good relationship choices. Part of making good choices is not only being in relationships for the right reasons, but being SINGLE for the right reasons as well. So here’s my Valentine for all.

You honor love when you know yourself, your expectations, needs and desires.

You honor love when you say no to a love you know will hurt others.

You honor love when you walk away from an abusive relationship.

You honor love when you can sit at a restaurant by yourself, or go to a movie by yourself, or go on vacation by yourself.

You honor love when you don’t deceive others in order to fulfill your sexual and emotional needs.

You honor love when you recognize that it is not sex, and don’t confuse the two.

You honor love when you are honest about your feelings, even if that means ending a relationship.

You honor love when you treat it as sacred, not a material CONTRACT or a social expectation.

You honor love when you respect others values, emotions and desires.

You honor love when you recognize that even relationships have fallow seasons.

You honor love when you do not try to possess others.

You honor love when you develop close friendships you can depend on so that your lover is not expected to carry the weight of being your “everything”

You honor love when you watch for love’s approach with patience.

You honor love when you fully embrace it when it enters your life.

You honor love when you know it REQUIRES WORK…
